The Sign Painter’s Cafe

I'm sign painter Sean Starr and founder of the Sign Painter's Cafe.

I love sign painting, have practiced it for over 35 years and as I have gotten older have looked at dozens of ways to pass along what I know to those newer in the trade. I have struggled to find a way to do that allows everyone to participate, not just people with the resources to travel to my studio and spend thousands on a few day workshop that might get them pointed in the right direction, but leaves them with more questions than when they got there. This platform will allow myself and others to do just that in a way that allows a person from anywhere to access the information and interact with an entire community that is focused on improving and sharing their knowledge.

If you are like me, you are bored and tired with social media platforms that have become mostly ads, don't show you the accounts you follow, and trap you in algorithms you didn't ask for.

The only people in here are people that are passionate about sign painting and learning more to improve themselves in it.

No ads, no algorithms and no big tech harvesting your data.

Together, we can build a positive, upbuilding community, where we share genuinely helpful resources from people passionate about the craft who are intent on passing along knowledge to keep sign painting alive.

We are putting together workshops focused on painting, design, gold leaf signs and more by some of the leaders in Sign Painting, monthly online meetups, and an annual in person/virtual Letterhead Meet and all sorts of stuff that allows our members to teach and learn as we grow.

I am genuinely happy you are here and excited to see how this all evolves into a community I would have given anything to be a part of years ago when I was early on in my own journey.

The Community Rules are pretty simple and common sense:

Keep it Positive: Everyone is here to teach, learn or improve. We won't tolerate running people down or creating a negative environment.

No Go Topics: This is a community focused solely on sign painting and everything involved around it. No soap-boxing about politics, social or religious issues, activism or repeatedly causing problems with other members.

No Spam: This is a learning site. If you have something to sell or promote, the only places that is ok to post is the "Classifieds" section. No spamming allowed.

The Obvious: Don't share personal information about others or engage in illegal activities. No posting of explicit, offensive, or copyrighted material without consent.
